Back in London

We are all back in London! We are currently flat sitting for Mez's cousin Ruth! It is in a place called Belsize Park home to the rich and famous including Russell Crowe, Jamie Oliver, David Walliams (He lives in Supernova heights, we walked past it but he wasn't home..) and former residents include Stanely Kubrick and Jim Henderson! So basically we look really out of place here.. however Camden is just down the road and it's a funky town full of markets, great place for shoes!

Anyway haven't done much went out to TGI Friday for Jeanette's birthday! Had cocktails, had a tasteless meal and got balloon hats!

Scotland

After departing London at 10.30pm we arrived in Edinburgh at the lovely time of 7.30am what a pleasant trip!
We did not really have anything specific planned in Scotland because we only booked one night accommodation! We did go and do a bus tour of the city!

Unfortunately at this time I was relapsing back into illness! However there was a up side. People that know me should know that I don't sleep too well. I managed to sleep from 5pm till 8pm and was slightly disoriented for an hour and fell back to sleep after a hunt for Ben and Jerry then proceeded to fall back asleep from 9pm till 7am! wow I didn't even wake up, I was in a dorm room with 16 other people too!

We had to wake early because we were due on a Haggis bus at 8am! We decided a tour would be best for us so we booked ourselves onto the 'Wild & Sexy Haggis Tour of the Scottish Highlands'

I know this is shocking on my behalf but I cannot remember most of the places I stayed at! So sorry!
Anyways here are some pics that we did on the first day!

We saw alot of waterfalls and mountains! Our tour guy was Ped (who looks like a cross between Ben Lee and Ed Norton) he was hilarous, full of Scottish pride and knowledge! Get a Scot to say hairy coo, it's bloody funny! Our first night we made it to the Isle of Skye, we went out to the pub it was full of locals pretty funny kept getting offered seats? Anyway there was a band playing covers and they played 'Make me smile' it was a good night!

The second day we did pretty much the same mountains, castles, waterfalls AND LOCH NESS! We visited this enchanted creek that if you dipped your face in it, it was suppose to make you beautiful. I did it, unfortunately I looked the same when I got back on the bus!

We got to Loch Ness in the evening where we then went on a cruise of the Loch Ness it was really enjoyable! Did you know that the Brits spent 12 million pounds looking for Nessy!!!
Now later that evening...
At our hostel the bar was offering doubles for £1! I mean how could anyone resist! Anyway I managed to drink way too much (don't drink Wodka! that's no typo!) There are some pretty incriminating pics of me (attempting) break dancing ! I have debated whether to put them up or not, but I don't think I will! Also another highlight of the evening was when Bon Jovi's livin on a pray came on the jukebox and everyone that was in bar at the time singing their lungs out at the chorus! Classic!

Anyway on our final day I woke up on the floor when I was suppose to in the top bunk...not sure how I got back to my room...But of course I paid for it the next day! Don't worry by the arvo I was back to my usual self!

Saw some more beautiful sites of Scotland including this site of tombs, not much is known about who was buried there but they were constructed with material that would have been imported from thousands of miles away!

During our time on the bus there are some things that will always remind me of our Haggis tour including the song Fat Bottom Girls by Queen, Jobby, Hairy Coo's, 'It was a time of war' and the Scots hatred of Braveheart! It was so not true, I bit like Crocodile Dundee nah..

We arrived back in Edinburgh at about 6pm! Absolutely had the time of my life on that tour! Made friends with some Aussies & Canadians and it turned out we were all staying in the same hostel that night so we went out to this awesome pub!

But sadly the next day we all departed our separated ways! We were on that lovely bus back to London that was leaving at 10.30pm and getting in at 7.30am so we had a full day to fill in so we went and visited the Edinburgh Castle, walked down the Royal Mile and climbed Arthur's Seat! We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Edinburgh and are considering whether to return and find work here!!

Arrival

Well here we are! About to depart Melbourne airport! We flew out at 2.40pm and had a 9 hour flight to Hong Kong. When we got there it was like 30 degrees inside the airport and we had to walk from gate 1 to gate 83, which of course was right at the end of the airport!

We had a couple of hours at the Hong Kong airport, and then we boarded the second leg of the trip, which was a pleasant 12 hour flight!

Arriving at Heathrow at 5.45am feeling slightly fatigued but not too bad! We got picked up by Tina who is looking after us for a week in her lovely Acton Town house!

Our first days in London we decided to do all the touristy things like go on the London eye as you can see from the pictures below

We went to Trafalgar square where we saw this guy dancing to Michael Jackson, it was absolute magic! We thought he was busking but there was no hat or coffee cup in sight! From there we went into the National Gallery where we saw numerous pieces of art included works from Vincent Van Gogh, Leonardo DaVinci and Monet! When we emerged about two hours later, our Michael Jackson impersonator was still at it! We have video footage!
We also did quiet alot of walking around London, including Hyde Park where I met up with my friend Jane who I have not seen in a year, we will also be in Munich for the world cup! Go Oz!

Also our first Saturday night out in London brought us to the Shepherds Bush Walkabout which is an Australian, NZ & Saffa themed pub, so basically it felt like I was back home! We tried a Spiderbite which is beer, strongbow and raspberry. It was foul!

I had the chance to meet up with the Matthews who I haven't seen for years! I was shocked by Rod's appearance, he looks like a tall Anthony Callea (Australian Idol contestant) What do you think? But here are some lovely pictures of Ned, Sue, Barry, Rod and my lovely self!

Woo Hoo off to Scotland for a week!

After experience England for a week I have discovered some points of interest

1. It is legal to drink on the street and on public transport! (upon hearing this I went out and bought a stoli from a corner store and drank it outside!)

2. Alcohol available at every corner store!

3. In supermarkets the consumer has to pack their own items! what is the point of check out chicks then??

4. Repeately told not to mention thongs and hurting in the same sentence ( OZ thongs = flipflops & UK thongs = g-string and Oz pants = trousers & Uk pants = undies!)

5. UK TV sucks except for Big Brother which is just crazy compared to our mundane version!

6. Everyone smokes

7. No one recycles!! No split bins. It's really disgusting!

I am sure I will be able to add some more in the future...

One Day to go!

Hi there !

I have only one more day left in Australia before I fly out to London! I am getting extremely exciting and can not wait for MY adventure to begin!
